An 18-year-old college girl of the Government Polytechnic at Ragadi under the Korei police station in Jajpur district allegedly committed suicide on Monday night by hanging from a ceiling fan in the college hostel. But her parents alleged that she was killed.
The deceased was identified as Rojalin Patra of Sendhapur village. She was reading in third year in the electrical branch in the college.
On Tuesday morning, some students found the door of the room of Rojalin locked from inside. They informed police and Rojalin’s parents about it. Her parents rushed to the college and along with others broke open the room and shifted her to the Community Health Centre at Danagadi, where doctors declared her dead.
Police seized the body. No suicide note was recovered at the spot, said Korei PS IIC Sanghamitra Nayak.
Rojalin’s father Amulya Patra on Tuesday filed an FIR in the police station that she was murdered and her body was hanged from the ceiling fan to portray it as a case of suicide. Police registered a case under Sections 302, 294, 507 and 34 of IPC.
