A day after the State Government revealed that 2.66 lakh ineligible KALIA beneficiaries have been identified, the BJP on Friday demanded that the Government money of Rs 200 crore, spent for providing assistance to these beneficiaries, be collected from the BJD leaders, Ministers and officers.
BJP State vice president Samir Mohanty said that the State Government had included 20 lakh farmers in the scheme in the first phase.
But keeping in mind the elections, the BJD Government covered more beneficiaries in the scheme and provided financial assistance to 51 lakh farmers. During verification of 36.88 lakh farmers, 2.66 lakh were found ineligible who have already received a total of Rs 133 crore.
After verification all beneficiaries, the number of ineligibles would be more and the total assistance given to such beneficiaries would amount to Rs 200 crore, he said.
Mohanty demanded that funds of Rs 200 crore should be collected from the Government officials, who had misused their power to include ineligible beneficiaries, BJD leaders and Ministers in the KALIA scheme.
