The Odisha Coalfield Workers’ Union affiliated to the CITU held a protest rally in the coal belt here against the privatisation of the coalmining sector.
Hundreds of coalmine workers led by CITU Angul president Ananda Acharya wore black badge and shouted slogan against the privatisation of the mines. The rally which was taken from lingraj Time Office went through Talcher GM office, Dera, Jagannath, Bharatpur and ended at Nandira. The agitators alleged that the 100 per cent privatisation in coal mining works would affect adversely every section of workers.Among others, Biren Pani, Jagdish Chauhan, Routray Bhutia and A Bardhan addressed. They also threatened a mass agitation from January 13.
