Coal India issue: INTUC seeks PM intervention

Published on:

Expressing its support, the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), State branch has joined the protest of all Central Trade Unions against disinvestment and privatisation of the Coal India.  It also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately intervene into the matter and invite all Central Trade Unions for a discussion to settle the issue amicably, informed INTUC president and former MP Rama Chandra Khuntia.

Notably, around 5.5 lakh coal workers of 41 coal fields in all over the country are on strike from Tuesday demanding withdrawal of the Government’s decision for disinvestment of the Coal India, regularization of all temporary workers working in 41 coal mines, increase in the quantum of pension and implementation of the land Acquisition Act-2013 in coal mines, etc. It is unfortunate that both the Union and State Government are trying to break the agitation by way of stringent actions against the agitating workers, said Khuntia.
