A Special leave Petition (SlP) was filed in the Supreme Court by one NK Sahu on Wednesday urging the court to pass an order to summon Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in connection with the allocation of Talabira II coal block to the Kumar Mangalam Birla-owned Hindalco. Sahu in the petition urged the court that a special CBI court had summoned former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Kumar Manglam Birla, former coal secretary PC Parakh, D Bhattacharya, but Patnaik was not summoned.
As Patnaik had written to former Prime Minister Singh to give Talabira II coal block to Hindalco, Sahu said in the petition, he should be summoned by the court. The court would hold the hearing of the SlP on April 6, said Sahu's lawyer Suresh Tripathy. Notably, the SC stayed the summons issued by a special court in connection with the allocation of the coal block.
