The Central Government has asked the Odisha Government to urge the District Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) to enter the coverage details of farmers on the National Crop Insurance portal on a daily basis.
Union Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers Welfare Secretary Shovan Kumar Pattnayak has written to the State Government to direct the DCCBs to upload data with immediate effect even through offline utility for proper monitoring of the scheme.
To facilitate the cooperatives, an offline utility has been created on the portal, he informed. Entering of data on real time basis has not yet been started by District Central Cooperative Banks.
He said farmers are to reap benefits from Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme in the country from Kharif 2016 season. Unless it is done, the farmers will be missing the opportunity to get the facility.
The Union Government has launched the Nation Crop Insurance portal namely, www.agri-insurance.gov.in to enable integration among all stakeholders for smooth flow of both information and services with the ultimate aim of rolling out direct benefit transfer of claim settlement into Aadhaar-seeded accounts of affected farmers.
It is made compulsory from Kharif 2017 season that notification of crops, areas for the season should be made on national portal itself, so that banks and insurance companies can feed coverage data directly on the portal for real time data flow and transparency.
It has been decided to monitor and collect the data of coverage of farmers regularly on weekly basis, said Pattnayak.
