Newly-appointed DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here on Friday.

Speaking to reporters, Sharma said the Chief Minister asked him to make the police people-friendly. Accordingly, he would instruct all district Superintendents of Police to ensure people-friendly policing in their districts and work in an impartial and transparent manner as per the Chief Minister’s direction.

The DGP said organised crimes would be dealt with an iron hand.

Sharma also expressed concern over the banned killer Blue Whale game.

“Commissionerate police and even the police headquarters have already issued an alert to all police stations in this regard. It is major concern for police. We will soon review how many kids in the State have become victims of the deadly game. I will look into it and, if necessary, issue any other instructions, he added.

Meanwhile, former DGP KB Singh on Friday took over as the  Odisha State  Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) Chairman. Singh said his morale is not low and he is a fighter. He refused to comment on his sudden unceremonious transfer by the Government and said the new assignment is challenging and he would try to ensure that the OSRTC becomes a profit-making organisation.
