Elections for the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Baripada Municipality would be held on February 6, State Election Commissioner (SEC) Ajit Kumar Tripathy announced on Friday.
According the SEC’s order, while nominations would be filed between January 13 and 18, scrutiny of the papers would be held on January 20. The date of withdrawal of the nominations is January 24 and the final list of candidates would be published the same day. Counting of votes would be taken up on February 7 and results announced the same day. The election of the CMC Mayor and chairperson of Baripada Municipality would be held on February 13 while the CMC Deputy Mayor and Baripada vice-chairperson would be elected on March 1.
The model code of conduct was enforced in these two areas from Friday.
