: The Shelter for the Urban Homeless (SUH) has been created across the State to ensure no needy is left abandoned in the street. In a recent case, it was observed that in the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) area, some are still sleeping on footpaths.
A meeting of the CMC SUH team, State SUH team and NGO OPUS working in this field was convened on Sunday. Chaired by Joint Secretary, HUD and Director, State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) Sarada Prasad Panda, the meeting discussed the matter in detail and instructions were issued to all the ULBs to activate their patrolling team and make sure the hapless people are linked to the nearest SUH.
The team CMC Cuttack was directed to come up with an action plan by June 21.
