Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday directed the concerned authorities to initiate criminal proceedings against the hospitals which are not providing proper treatment to patients covered under State Government-sponsored Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana and Centrally-sponsored National Health Mission.
Reviewing the implementation of the two health insurance schemes here at the Secretariat Patnaik directed the officials to serve show-cause notices to the errant hospitals first. If needed criminal proceedings should be initiated.
The meeting revealed that patients who were insured under the State and Centrally-sponsored schemes are facing many problems in hospitals. The Chief Minister maintained that the progress of implementation of health insurance schemes would be reviewed in every two months.
The meeting further revealed that so far while nearly Rs26 crore were spent for 55 lakh farmers’ families under Biju Krushak Yojana around Rs108.46 crore were spent for more than 44 lakh families insured under NHM in the State. There are, however, bottlenecks in the proper implementation of the Government schemes.
