The Manav Adhikar Suraksha Manch (MASM) sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through the Sub-Collector demanding installation of digital X-ray and CT scan machines in the MKCG College Hospital here.
The Manch also demanded stopping of commercialisation in healthcare system, strict action against absentee doctors and staffs and stopping of paying salary to security guards from the users’ fee fund.
After the formation of Health Welfare Society, the State Government is playing with the public’s right to health.
By charging users’ fee the Government is putting the public under pressure, alleged the MASM.
The Manch alleged that many doctors move to private clinics after signing the attendance register. Though the Health Minister found this during his recent visit, no action has been taken yet, rued the Manch.
The negligence and callousness of doctors lead to patients’ untimely deaths in many cases. Security guards have been engaged to provide security to the doctors at private clinics, alleged the Manch.
They also alleged that the Health Department has showed sheer negligence in installation of required equipment in the hospital.
The Manch pointed out that if demands are not fulfilled immediately, the Government’s claim of zero tolerance towards corruption would prove to be a political gimmick only.
