The law and order situation in the State has been deteriorating. Child abductions and other crimes are on the rise. The Chief Minister should resign on moral grounds, said Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik here on Friday.
Party Odisha in-charge Chella Kumar said they don’t want a CBI probe as such inquiries have failed to expose several scams and nab the accused for the last 15 years in the State.
“For this reason, we had demanded an SIT probe monitored by the Orissa High Court,” he said.
Kumar further said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had accepted the Congress’ demand for a SIT probe in the Pari murder case.
He further said, “The Congress wants early justice for the victim girl’s family. However, there was some miscommunication among the party MLAs over the issue. Our MLAs, including Suresh Routray and Santosh Singh Saluja, had brought some accusations against their colleagues and it was only due to misunderstanding,” said Kumar.
Among others, MLAs Narsingha Mishra, Tara Prasad Bahinpati, Suresh Routray, Santosh Singh Saluja and Ramesh Jena and many other leaders were present.
