Even as Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak resigned from his post over the SUM Hospital fire tragedy, Opposition BJP said Chief Minister should also quit his post as fire safety issues are looked into by the
Home Department, which is held by him.
“The Chief Minister should take responsibility and resign from his post as 25 people died due to fire outbreak. He can’t escape by merely sacking the Health Minister,” said BJP State president Basant
Panda. Similarly, Congress Chief Whip in the State Assembly Tara Prasad Bahinipati said all concerned Bureaucrats should also be punished.
“Concerned Bureaucrats are also equally responsible for the fire tragedy. Stringent action should be taken against them,” he said.
