Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's cavalcade in-charge Binod Das, an Additional DCP rank officer, was on Monday suspended in connection with last month's egg attack on the CM's car here.
The Home Department took this decision following the recommendation of Commissioner of Police RP Sharma to the DGP about Das' suspension.
It was alleged that being the chief of the carcade, he should have directed the CM's pilot vans to take immediate diversion much before the trouble spot (Keshari Talkies).
But he didn't do so. Earlier police suspended Kharavel Nagar police station's IIC Sheikh Sarifuddin and ASI P K Sahoo for alleged dereliction of duty. Meanwhile, a local court here granted bail to 12 arrested youth Congress activists, sources said.
