CM reviews Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the progress of the Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana (MMSY) at a meeting held at the State Secretariat here on Wednesday.

The scheme envisages construction of roads at 6,155 villages with a population of more than 100 totalling 20,000 km of road length. Villages left out of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in particular would benefit under the scheme, said an official release.

It may be noted that villages having a population of 250 in the Integrated Action Plan (IAP) areas and 500 in non-IAP areas are covered under the PMGSY, thus leaving out villages with smaller population from the scheme. A provision of Rs150 crore has been made for the MMSY in this year’s State Budget.

Patnaik directed the Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Works Departments to work in proper coordination among themselves for timely completion of the projects under the MMSY.

The meeting was attended by Rural Development Minister Badri Narayan Patra, Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati and Secretaries of the concerned departments.
