CM plea to expedite Doppler installation

Published on:

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged the Central Government for immediate installation of two Doppler radars in Sambalpur and Baleswar at the earliest to minimise the loss of human lives in natural calamities.

In a letter to Union Minister of Earth Sciences, Science and Technology, Harsh Vardhan on Monday, Patnaik pointed out that setting up of the advanced weather systems in both the districts has been delayed.

Though the Government of India had earlier decided for installation of four Doppler Weather Radars in 2006, only two have been installed and made operational at Paradip and Gopalpur.
