CM plays Odia card for vote: Cong

Published on:

The Congress on Wednesday alleged the decisions taken by the State Government for promotion and spread of Odia bear no importance as the Government had failed to implement existing laws during 18 years.

“The State Government has not implemented existing laws like the Public library Act 1997. The announcements made for promotion of Odia are meant hoodwing voters only,” said PCC president Prasad Harichandan at a Press conference here.

Alleging that the Naveen Patnaik Government has done a little for development of the State, Harichandan said BJD’s four terms of rule and its completion of 20 years make the Government a 420 Government.

Commenting on the Chief Minister’s advice to BJD leaders and workers to lead simple life and serve people, he said the Government has failed to win hearts of the people as it has not implemented schemes, including Harichandra, Hrudaya Yojanas.

He too ridiculed the BJP for setting a target to win 120 MlA seats in Odisha in 2019 elections.

Among others, party’s State spokesperson Sougat Mohanty was present.
