Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday continued his tirade against the Centre and accused it of not believing in the federal system of governance.
Addressing a gathering of party workers as part of the BJD’s Jan Sampark Padayatra here, Patnaik said the Central Government should not forget its crucial role in all-round development of the States.
“In a federal system, the Central Government should not forget its role to play in development of the States and more emphasis should be given to the poor States,” said Patnaik.
Citing that the State Government believes in federal spirit, Patnaik told the Centre that it should not be considered as the State’s weakness.
He referred to the Polavaram and Mahanadi water issues and said the people of Odisha want justice from the Centre on these issues. He added that his Government would take every possible step to protect the interest of the State.
