CM Naveen appoints new team for BJD women wing

A day after making a reshuffle in its district observers, the BJD on Sunday appointed a new team in its women’s wing, Biju Mahila Janata Dal (BMJD). Based on the recommendations made by BMJD president Snehangini Churria, BJD president Naveen Patnaik appointed the leaders to various BMJD posts.

Five senior leaders were appointed as advisors of the BMJD. They are Jagatsinghpur MP Rajashree Mallick, Bhadrak MP Manjulata Mandal, ex-MP Rita Tarai and MLAs Latika Pradhan and Nandini Devi. Subhasini Jena, Sulata Deo and Nibedita Mohanty were appointed as working presidents of BMJD while Kasturi Mohapatra was given a crucial responsibility as secretary general. The party also appointed presidents and working presidents for seven zones.  Ranjulata Ray (president) and Puspanjali Rana (working president) were given the responsibility of Bhubaneswar zone; Subhadra Das (president) and Prabhasini Sarangi (working president) for Cuttack zone; Binapani Sahoo (president) and Mina Majhi (working president) for Baleswar, Sabita Acharya (president) and Sandhyarani Lakra (working president) for Sambalpur, Kalyani Nayak (president) and Puspanjali Pande (working president) for Balangir, Mamata Bisoi (president) for Ganjam and Rita Panigrahi (president) for Koraput. The party also appointed nine new BMJD vice-presidents. They are Sandhyarani Biswal, Sanjukta Mohanty, Padmini Sekhar Deo, Jyoti Panigrahi, Nibedita Nayak, Kanak Prava Lenka, Prabhasini Nanda, Sanjukta Mahal and Umilata Das.

Now, the BMJD has 27 vice-presidents, 35 general secretaries, 36 secretaries, 28 joint secretaries and 69 executive body members. While Jayashree Das has been appointed as treasurer, Manasi Sundarray is the social media coordinator. Besides, names of presidents of 33 organisational districts were also announced.

It seemed that the BJD is now preparing big for the upcoming panchayat elections as the party’s performance was not up to the mark in the last polls in 2017. Speculations are also rife that Naveen Patnaik may go for a reshuffle in his Ministry soon.
