Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the second or rural campus of the Utkal University at Chandikhol during his visit to Jajpur district on Saturday.
Two courses, master degree in Public Health and MBA in Rural Management, will start from the rural campus. The classes will be commenced from its temporary campus at the Baba Bhairabananda College near the demarcated site for the permanent campus from this academic session.
Official sources said the courses would be offered in the second campus keeping the need of industries in the minerals-rich Jajpur district in mind.
The State Government has sanctioned Rs 25 crore for the rural campus. A technology park will be set up at the premises to develop indigenous technology at the campus.
Notably, the State Government had demarcated 66.3 acres of land near the Baba Bhairabananda College. The land possession was delayed due to some litigation. Later, the foundation-stone of the campus was laid by Higher Education Minister Ananta Das on July 31 in 2017.
Besides, the Chief Minister also inaugurated five projects worth over Rs 109 crore and laid foundation-stones of eight projects in Jajpur district on the day.
