The State Government’s fundamental duty is to provide security to women. But today the women in Odisha are unsafe. The Kunduli Dalit gangrape victim ended her life waiting for justice. Though the victim blamed police and the administration, the State Government didn’t pay heed to her, alleged a BJP national Mahila Morcha delegation which arrived here on Saturday to probe the Kunduli incident.
National general secretary and team leader Saroja Pandey said the Chief Minister, who holds the Home Department portfolio instead of reviewing the deteriorating law and order situation in the State and take appropriate steps, is trying to suppress the incidents in collusion with the police and administration. The State Women’s Commissions silence on the issue is highly unfortunate, said Pandey.
She said the team would meet the victim girl’s family and also hold discussions with the locals, police and administration and appraise itself about the incident. She demanded the incident to be probed by the CBI.
Earlier, the three-member central team of the BJP, led by Pandey, arrived here on the day. Other members of the team include Betul MP Jyoti Dhrube and Misrikh MP Anju Bala.
