Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the Indian Women’s Hockey Team for putting up a brave fight against a strong team like Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday.
India’s dream of a bronze medal in their maiden entry into the semifinals by the women’s hockey team came crashing down as it lost 4-3 to Great Britain. However, the women’s team played their hearts out, storming back after trailing 0-2 to take the lead but could not maintain the tempo as Great Britain scored the winner in the fourth quarter to claim the bronze medal, their third medal in three Olympic Games starting from London 2012.Notably, the State Government will felicitate the Tokyo Olympics Bronze medal-winning Indian men’s hockey team in Bhubaneswar on August 16.
