CM approves 3 more Cyber PSs

In view of growing cyber attacks in Government and private institutions, the State Government has decided to set up three more Cyber police stations in the State.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday approved a proposal in this regard.

The proposed cyber police stations would come up at Brahmapur, Rourkela and Sambalpur. At least 33 cop posts, including six Inspectors, 12 Sub-Inspectors, six Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and nine Constables, have been created to manage the show.

Every police station would have two Inspectors, four Sub-Inspectors, two ASIs and thee Constables.

Expecting a rise in online fraud due to excess use of digital transactions, Patnaik also directed to strengthen the existing cyber police stations functioning under the CID of the Crime Branch in Cuttack to deal with the situation.

The first cyber crime police station was inaugurated on October 2, 2016 at the headquarters of the Crime Branch (CID) in Cuttack.
