The Odia community is great and it had in the past conquered the land between Ganga and Godavari. Today also, the community is empowered with the same indomitable spirit, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at a Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) executive body meeting here on Wednesday.
“The bravery and war strategy of our Paika heroes had kept Odisha unconquered for long. Utkalmani Gopabandhu, Utkalgaurav Madhubabu, Buxi Jagabandhu and Veer Surendra Sai are our great icons,” Patnaik said.
“Despite being a little boy, martyr Baji Rout’s courage and patriotism are still our source of inspiration. Bijubabu’s contributions to our Odia community have made him immortal,” he said, adding, “These great personalities are our best identity. Hence, let’s try to know our unique identity and propagate it to our future generations.”
Patnaik urged the students and the youths to be careful while using the social media and said, “Today’s age is of digital and social media. Its impact is very much felt in every sphere of life. But social media is also flooded with misinformation. Many a time, the information that comes on social media and even on mainstream media is not true.“Thus, you have to fight against this misinformation.
Misinformation is the greatest enemy to social harmony. If we are not alert, it will destroy our community and unique identity,” he said.
“Setting aside this misinformation, you should all disseminate the right information of our Government so that it benefits the people,” Patnaik said. “You’re all Sarathis (charioteers) of our new and emerging Odisha,” he exhorted the students.
