CM’s promise to chit fund victims a lie: Pradhan

Published on:

Stating that delayed justice is no justice, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said the extension of chit fund probe commission’s tenure by six months has proved that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s assurance to return chit fund money to depositors before the 2014 general elections was false.

“The State Government has been making promises since 2013 to refund chit fund deposits to the affected chit fund depositors. The Government had also formed a corpus fund of Rs 300 crore for the purpose. While refund of deposits has already been delayed, extension of Justice MM Das Commission’s tenure by six months has proved that the Government is knowingly delaying the process. Chit fund depositors have been fed up by the delay. Justice delayed is justice denied,” said Pradhan.

He alleged that hard earned money of people has been looted by chit fund companies ran under the patronage of Ministers, MPs, MLAs and leaders of the ruling party, BJD.

He demanded that the Chief Minister give a clarification as to what relation the Naveen Niwas has with Saroj Sahoo.
