The State Congress legislature Party (ClP) will hold its meeting on June 10 to elect its leader, who will be the leader of Opposition in the Assembly.
The AICC has appointed senior Congress leader Ajay Maken as the party observer for the election of the leader of the 16-member ClP.
“Congress general secretary and Odisha in-charge BK Hariprasad has informed me that Maken has been appointed as the observer for the ClP leader election. Maken along with Hariprasad and AICC secretary Subhankar Sarkar will visit Bhubaneswar on June 10,” said PCC president Jayadev Jena.
Senior Congress leader and Balangir MlA Narasingha Mishra is most likely to be elected as the ClP leader and, thereby, become the leader of Opposition in the Assembly, party sources said.
Mishra recently underwent a heart bypass surgery for removal of blockages in arteries.
