Closed Birla Tyres’ workers move NCLT

Published on:

While the complete closure of the Birla Tyres, a large scale industry at Chhanpur here has left the workers high and dry, a workers’ union has approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on the issue.

As the workers need to decide their future course of action in the NCLT over the Insolvency Resolution Process of Birla Tyres, the Birla Tyres Workers’ Union has consulted with advocate Akash Sharma from Kolkata to take appropriate steps for justice to the workers and revival of the debt-laden company, union leader Rajandra Kumar Bal said.

The union has already filed claims on behalf of 306 workers before Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) Sk Abdul Salam on May 22. The claims to the tune of Rs 100 crore are still pending for verification by the IRP.

"In the current context, the future of the company is in doldrums after its complete closure since Aril 2021; and prospects of revival of the company are dark due to the incompetence of the management and lack of a positive attitude hitherto," alleged  Bal.
