Vital Statistics Clerk Mirza Sajid Baig of the Munsipentha Community Health Centre (CHC) in Ganjam district was caught red-handed by Vigilance officers while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2,000 on Monday.
Baig had demanded the bribe from one Hadu Mahakuda of Paturu village under the Chatrapur police station for issuance of death certificates of the latter’s deceased father and a relative.
The complainant alleged that he had applied to the Medical Officer of the CHC for issuance of death certificates of his father Dukha Gouda and relative Kamala Gouda. The certificates were signed by the concerned Medical
Officer. When Mahakuda requested clerk Baig to issue the death certificates, he demanded the bribe.
