A Class-III girl studying was allegedly raped by a minor boy at her home, according to a report in Keonjhar district on Monday. The accused boy is a Class-IX student.
The injured girl was admitted at the Anandapur Sub-Divisional Hospital in a critical condition.
Reports said that the girl was staying with one of her relatives after her parents’ death. Her relative along with his family was staying at a rented house owned by the accused boy’s uncle at Sasang under Hatadihi block.
The rape took place on Sunday afternoon when the girl was watching TV in her house. The boy entered the house on the pretext of watching TV. Seeing that all the family members were having siesta in the afternoon, he took advantage of the situation and raped the girl.
At this time, a small boy of the locality came into the house and began screaming when he saw the raping act. This awakened the family members. Locals caught hold of the culprit while he was trying to flee from the spot. They tied him to a tree and informed police about the incident. Police arrested the juvenile rapist after a complaint was filed by the girl’s relative at the Nandipada police station.
