The Civil Society Alliance here strongly opposed the ‘Amar ladoo’ remark of Biju Mahila Janata Dal president and MlA Pramila Mallik meant for farmers and held demonstration followed by a protest meeting here on Tuesday.
At the meeting, members of the body said the anti-farmer remarks made by BJD leaders, including Mallik, Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy and Excise Minister Damodar Rout, prove that the BJD leaders are egoistic and arrogant. Hence, all social welfare, farmer and labour outfits should make concerted efforts to fight against such an arrogant Government, said slum leader Pratap Sahu.
The body also warned to stage dharna in front of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s house and oppose all his district-visiting programmes if he does not dismiss the Agriculture Minister and Pramila Mallik within next 24 hours.
Earlier, the activists burnt an effigy of Mallik and distributed ‘Amar ladoos’ among the passersby. Among others, advocate Sudhir Mohanty, Dalit leader Ashok Mallik, RTI activist Sachikant Pradhan and woman leader Sanjukta Panigrahi participated in the demonstration.
