BJP State Kissan Morcha leader Rabi Maharana in a letter to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor has alleged that the State exchequer is being embezzled by execution of unwarranted civil construction works under the BMC.
Maharana stated that as part of urban planning maintenance of roads, hospitals and other activities are undertaken. Funds are allocated only for genuine and bonafide projects which are beneficial for the people.
He alleged that as the BJD controls the BMC, the Mayor’s faddiness in allocation of funds for the repair and renovation of the BMC Hospital here is shrouded in mystery. Being aware that the aforesaid building is in a dilapidated condition, meager funds have been allotted for its repair which is inimical for welfare of the residents and dangerous for the lives and safety of the patients.
Notably, the Municipal Hospital building was declared unsafe by the Roads and Buildings (R and B). However, in spite of being aware about it the corporation has allocated huge funds for its repair and renovation which is only a camouflage to befool the people and siphon of public funds.
He alleged that the rules have been deliberately flouted for allotting funds for projects which are not viable. Maharana urged that the public money should be utilised according the rules and regulations of civil works for people’s benefit instead of benefit of individuals.
