The Twin City Commissionerate police on Thursday claimed to have cracked the case of Tanuja Aich’s death. Her body was found in a SUV at Sriram Nagar under the Lingaraj police station in the city on October 1 and police arrested the deceased’s husband from Kolkata.
The arrested Sangram Aich was brought on a transit remand and was being interrogated by police.
The postmortem report of Tanuja revealed that she suffered multiple injuries on her body and brain. Police said the reason behind the death could only be ascertained after interrogation of Sangram.
Earlier, police had seized the CCTV footages from a nearby mall which showed Sangram leaving the car in which Tanuja’s body was found.
Family members of Tanuja have alleged that Sangram was torturing her for the last three to four years and had even threatened to marry another woman. As per the relatives of Tanuja, Sangram had illicit relationships with other women and the couple was going through a rough patch.
