The Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar held its 49th year celebration as “Annual programme presentation ceremony and induction of new members” on Monday at its own Rotary Bhawan here.
State Information Commissioner Jagadananda was the chief guest and District Governor-elect of Rotary International District 3262 Ashok Bihari Mohapatra the guest of honour. The club’s new president Dr GN Patnaik presented his team of directors, chairmen and advisors of different wings of the club, who will assume the responsibility to serve the community for the year 2013-14. Rotary believes in its fundamental value of ‘service above self’.
The ceremony began with peace invocation, presentation of Board members, induction of 12 new members of different classifications, recognition to members for their outstanding contributions to the Rotary movement and recognising the Past District Governors for their contributions. The motivational words of both the guests were highly touching. Jagadananda focused on the need of social service among the rural community with passion and dedication to solve the various social issues. He was sure that the Rotarians can do this. The meeting was attended by around 175 members with their families and friends.
