The Saheed Nagar police on Sunday arrested a city-based realtor on charges of allegedly duping a person of `30 lakh on the pretext of giving him a duplex house.
Shreya Infrastructures Services Pvt ltd managing director Himanshu Sekhar Nayak, who was detained at the Sahid Nagar police station on Saturday evening, was arrested on Sunday after hours of grilling.
According to sources, Nayak had taken `30 lakh from a man as advance for providing a duplex house in the city. Hr had assured to hand over the property within 11-13 months of the agreement. But he did not keep his promise. As the realtor failed to provide the house as per an agreement, the victim lodged an FIR at the Saheed Nagar police station.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted accepting the money from the complainant but expressed his inability to return the amount and denied the fraud allegation.
“As per the agreement, the buyer has not paid the full amount. Instead of paying the full amount of `30 lakh, he had paid `23 lakh. Despite repeated reminders, he has not paid the due. How can we hand over the house without getting the full amountIJ” said Nayak.
