In a first, prisoners would get to watch movies on a projector inside a cell at the Jharpada jail here.
Prisoners will watch patriotic, historic, mythological and morals-based films every Sunday through the projector connected with a sound system.
This is the very first time in the country for prisoners getting such a facility. Devotional songs would be played through the sound system every morning and evening, said Jail Superintendent DN Barik. The move is intended to help prisoners free themselves from mental stress. Besides, a washing machine has also been given to prisoners to wash their clothes.
A water purifier with hot water facility has also been installed to provide drinking water to the inmates.
A 24-hour kiosk with internet facility has been made available to help the prisoners check their case statuses, the Jail Superintendent added.
