Armed with a video uploaded in social networking site that shows a person having close resemblance with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor and senior BJD leader Anant Narayan Jena along with another person purportedly having intimate moments with a woman, the Student Congress here on Thursday demanded the resignation of Jena.
Though the Mayor refuted the charges, but the incident has left the ruling BJD embarrassed.
The three and a half minutes video uploaded in the Youtube shows three persons in an intimate moment with one among them bearing close resemblance with Jena. A woman is also seen in the video. The video is purportedly taken in a mobile phone.
“He is not only the Mayor but the first citizen of Bhubaneswar. He should immediately resign from his post on moral grounds after such shameful act,” said Student Congress president Itish Pradhan.
“Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena’s presence is clearly visible in the video. Until it is proved that he is innocent, he must resign from his post,” added Pradhan.
He also charged that Jena is involved in the murder of engineering student Rishi, who was a Student Congress activist here.
“We strongly suspect that Jena is indirectly involved in the death of engineering student Rishi, who was actively involved in our party works. We demand that a high level inquiry be made into it,” demanded Pradhan.
Meanwhile, rubbishing the charges, Jena said the Congress party is trying to tarnish his image.
“I am not at all the person in the video the party is talking about. That man has a quite big stomach,” said Jena.
On the other hand, the issue was also raised in the Assembly. Opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati raised the issue through point of order.
