A self-styled godman and his aides of Jajpur district allegedly raped a married woman from Bhubaneswar.
After a complaint by the victim, the police started an investigation into the incident.
According to reports, the victim belongs to the Sharadhapalli slum under the Khandagiri police limits. She has no child even after many years of marriage. A few days ago, she had visited CRP square to buy medicines where she met a person, identified as Prafulla Panda, who advised her to meet a self styled godman in Jajpur to be blessed with a child.
With the help of Panda, the woman reached at Panikoili square in Jajpur district where arrangement had been made for her accommodation in a hotel.
The self-styled godman along with his associates arrived in the hotel at around 12 am. They forced her to be naked for a kind of ritual to get blessing of motherhood. When she opposed, the Baba and his associates raped her in the hotel.
The victim alleged that the accused shot the rape scene on their mobile phone.
A case has been registered on basis of allegation made by the victim. The woman underwent medical examination in the Capital Hospital. The police recorded the statement of the victim under Sections 161 and 164 of CrPC.
