Bhubaneswar Bar Association members on Thursday staged a demonstration here demanding immediate arrest of a man who allegedly created a fake Facebook account of a woman lawyer and threatened her for taking up a case against him.
Senior woman lawyer Ranjita Das alleged that she is being victimised for accepting a matrimonial case. The accused is posting obscene pictures on the Facebook page and issuing threats to her. The police are yet to take any action even after four days of filing of the complaint, she said.
“We are expected to fight for those who need justice. How can you expect justice from the system which can’t even protect the attorneysIJ We will launch a State-wide stir if the Commissionerate police don’t take immediate action,” she added.
The fuming lawyers said the victim has filed a complaint with the Badagada police, but no action has been taken yet. The objectionable page is yet to be removed from the Facebook.
Bar Association secretary Anil Satpathy said, “The accused Jinesh Sahoo had a case pending against him in the city Family Court. The woman lawyer was advocate on behalf of his wife in the case. After she took up the case, she received threat calls from the accused.”
