City land broker held for cheating

The Saheed Nagar police on Sunday arrested a land broker for cheating a land buyer in the city. The accused Bibhuti Bhushan Behera of Jajpur district was staying at Rasulgarh in the city.

According to police sources, Behera had taken Rs 12.4 lakh from one Chakrapani Sahu of Nayagarh district, presently staying at the Industrial Estate in Rasulgarh here, to give a suitable land. The agreement was signed in 2012. When Sahu asked Behera for registration of the land, the latter didn’t take it seriously and threatened Sahu not to disturb him. Even Sahu requested the broker to return his money, but in vain.

Finally, Sahu lodged a complaint with the Saheed Nagar police on Saturday in this regard, following which the police arrested Behera and forwarded him to court on Sunday.
