Unidentified miscreants looted ornaments worth over Rs 15 lakh from a jewellery shop at Madhusudan Nagar of Unit-4 area in the city on the wee hours of Wednesday, said police.
According to reports, the miscreants entered Bakreswari Jewellery shop at Madhusudan Nagar by breaking open its asbestos roof and decamped with around 30 kg of silver along with 100 gm gold ornaments from the shop.
Shop owner Khirasagar Sahu said that the loot took place between 2am and 3am and he came to know about the burglary after 3.30am. The shop\\ owner lodged a complaint with the Kharvel Nagar police station on Wednesday.
Acting on the complaint, a scientific team of the police started an investigation into the matter. The police are suspecting that as many as five people were involved in the loot. As the shop owner didn’t install CCTV in the shop, video footage could not be captured, said the police.
