City firm manager escapes abductors

The manager of a private construction company, who was abducted from his office under the Nayapalli police limits on Tuesday evening, managed to escape from the abductors’ clutches from the Panikoili area in Jajpur district by jumping from the vehicle in which he was being taken.

The police also seized a car in connection with the incident.

Manager of Dwarika Builders Bhakta Bandhu Mahanty had been abducted for unspecified reasons.

The police suspect that Mahanty’s former driver is the mastermind behind the abduction. However, the driver’s identity was yet to be established. “We suspect the former driver may be responsible for Mohanty’s abduction. We have started investigation into the case,” said DCP Nitinjeet Singh.
