City cops to probe fake currency racket in slum

After the Mayurbhanj police on Wednesday seized some fake currency printing materials at the Salia Sahi slum under the Nayapalii police station here, the Commissionerate police have formed a team under the supervision of an ACP-rank official to investigate the racket and its links.

Twin City Commissioner of Police YB Khurnia said the team led by an ACP would probe all the angles and if required visit Kolkota and Bangladesh to trace the links.

While the police are claiming that Sagen Tudu, from whom 32 Rs 500 denomination fake notes were seized in Baripada, is the mastermind, his sister claims that one Raja Tudu is the mastermind behind the racket and he used to give the notes to Sagen to circulate it in the market. However, Raja’s family members are vehemently denying the allegations.
