It’s over nine months now that churches in Odisha have remained closed in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Many churches are having worships and prayers on the YouTube or Zoom platforms. But the believers are keen that the churches should open and people can join the worship.
The churches thank the administration for allowing them to open on the Christmas day this year on the condition that limited numbers of people shall attend the worship observing the Covid-19 restrictions with prior permission. The Church of Christ (Union Church), the oldest Protestant church in Bhubaneswar on Lokseva Marg, after careful consideration, has decided not to open the church on the Christmas day. The is the church anticipates a large crowd to assemble. “Though we eagerly look forward to worshipping together again, we are willing to wait for a while more,” stated Union Church secretary Paresh Das. “The church worships on the Christmas day would be available on YouTube (English worship at 10 am and Odia worship at 4 pm). Our special guest speaker on occasion will be Rev Madhusudan Das from Hyderabad,” he added.
