In a bizarre incident, some Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawans deployed at the Tata Steel plant in Kalinga Nagar allegedly thrashed as many as 42 students and four teachers of a Sevashram school at Gobaraghati under Danagadi block of Jajpur district on Sunday night.

Protesting the attack by the security personnel, students and teachers of the school on Monday blocked the Duburi-Chandikhol NH-57 in front of the steel pant’s main gate demanding action against the accused CISF jawans.

As per the allegations by the students, the jawans barged into the hostel of the school, thrashed them and their teachers and damaged several articles of the institution. Headmaster Pravat Kumar Bramaha has filed an FIR in the Kalinganagar police station.

On being informed about the road blockade, police reached the spot to take stock of the situation.

“CISF men alleged that some students pelted stones at their nearby camp on Sunday night. We are investigating into the matter,” said IIC Manoj Panda.

Meanwhile, the Tata Steel plant authorities informed that several cases of stone pelting on security personnel had been observed near the school and police were informed regarding these incidents. On Sunday, a student was caught red-handed.

The CISF has already directed for an inquiry into the allegation and suitable action would be taken if anybody is found guilty.
