In a unique gesture, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) comprising erstwhile Soviet Russian States, honoured Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS, with two gold medals from their authoritative knowledge organisation Znanie on Monday. The Znanie (knowledge) medal and the President’s Medal were presented by Znanie President Efim Malitikov to Samanta in a glittering function in Moscow.
Samanta’s contribution in the field of education and his creation of KISS impressed the organisation so much that CIS member countries unanimously selected him for the coveted honours. Immediately after the Znanie had announced Samanta’s name, the Moscow State Humanitarian University decided to confer MSc (Honoris Causa) on him, which he would receive on Tuesday in the University Senate.
