Vigilance cops on Saturday conducted raids on the houses of the Council of Higher Secondary Education’s (CHSE) strong room in-charge Surya Naryan Mohanty and detected his assets of Rs 80 lakh.
The anti-corruption wing conducted the simultaneous searches in at least six places. The Vigilance found Mohanty’s having a well-furnished residence at Forest Park, one house in Samantrapur and one flat in Jyotsna Garden Apartment in Shastri Nagar and three plots here.
Besides, ten bank passbooks, 100 grams of gold jewellery, a Wagonor, household items worth Rs 3 lakh, huge amount of foreign currency and postage stamps were also found.
The houses of his relatives are also being searched to unearth possession of disproportionate assets, official sources said.
However, what has surprised many is Mohanty had joined the CHSE in the eighties at a salary of Rs 1,000.
