Chit scam: NCP holds demo at Raj Bhavan

Reiterating their demand for a CBI probe into the chit fund scams in the State, hundreds of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) youth activists on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan here.

“Nearly 22 lakh families are affected by various fraudulent chit fund companies in the State being duped of around Rs 20,000 crore. Instead of ensuring refund, of their money the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government is spending crores of rupees to organise a rally in New Delhi on June 12 to demand Special Category State status,” said Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) youth wing general secretary Srikant Samantray.  

The protestors demanded immediate refund of investors’ money, besides stringent action against the fraudulent chit fund firms’ owners as well as the Ministers, MlAs and bureaucrats who are reportedly involved in the scams.
