The CBI would interrogate a BJD MP and other political leaders for their alleged involvement in the mega chit fund scam in Odisha.
“Efforts are on to ascertain the facts on collection of money by these leaders on behalf of these chit fund companies. Basing on the evidence during the raids on the houses of these leaders and the concerned chit fund companies, these leaders will be interrogated,” said a senior CBI official.
Meanwhile, CBI officials on Friday raided the house of director of Nabadiganta Capital Services limited (NCSl) Kartikeya Parida at Naharakanta on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar and seized incriminating documents.
Investigation is on to ascertain the investment of money by the persons concerned and how much money the company has swindled. Besides, evidence had found about the share of money by some politicians in the company, the official said, adding that raids would be conducted on the house of NSCl managing director Anjan Kumar Baliarsingh and other company officials.
It may be mentioned that the NSCl was registered in August 2011 with an authorised capital of Rs 5 crore. Several people had purchased shares worth Rs 2.29 crore, of which former Keonjhar MlA Subarna Nayak, a director of the company, had invested Rs 60,000.
The company later had opened three branches, Nabadiganta Properties, Nabadiganga Projects ltd and Nabadiganga Agro, in the State in the last three years of which Nabadiganga Agro was registered in 2012.
Meanwhile, the JMM staged a demonstration at Baripada here on Saturday demanding immediate arrest and suspension of Mayutbhanj BJD MP Ramchandra Hansda following CBI raids on his residence in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scam in the State.
Activists led by former JMM MlA Ajen Murmu and party leader Debasis Marandi burnt effigies of Hansda and Chief Minister Naveen Patnak in front of the district Collectorate.
They submitted a memorandum to Additional District Magistrate Suratha Mallick, alleging Hansda has “looted the hard-earned money of the poor.”
