The Congress on Saturday alleged that the BJD announced to support a BJP candidate for a Rajya Sabha seat as it fears that BJD leaders involved in the chit fund scams might be subjected to CBI action.
Addressing a Press meet here, Congress leader Satya Prakash Nayak said there has been a secret understanding between the two parties against the interest of the State.
“The BJD was always accusing the BJP-led Union Government of not providing support to the State. With adequate numbers of MLAs, the BJD could have sent three of leaders to the Rajya Sabha. But its supremo Naveen Patnaik has fielded two candidates on behalf of the BJD and announced to support BJP candidate Ashwini Vaishnaw, who has not contribution for development of Odisha,” Nayak said alleging that the BJD is now being driven by the BJP in fear of action in chit fund scam.
Stating that the Tara Dutta Committee had revealed that Vaishnaw had taken land in the discretionary quota, Nayak urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnak and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to give clarification as to why they fielded Vaishnaw.
