In a remarkable achievement, as many as 20 students from the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) here would pursue Bachelors degree in China with assured jobs after graduation. This is the first time that such an opportunity has come to the tribal community, said KISS CEO Dr PK Routray at a Press conference here on Tuesday.
The students’ study and scholarship in China materialised following deliberations of the KISS authorities with Prof Zhou Sheng, General Secretary, Yangzhou Polytechnic College (YPC).
KIIT & KISS Founder Prof Achyuta Samanta had signed MoUs with the YPC and some other institutions during his visit to China in March. The YPC agreed to provide scholarship to 20 KISS students to pursue their graduation (+3), which would begin from the upcoming semester.
These students would be given a course in Mandarin in the initial year, after which they would be allowed to take up the course of their choice. The college would ensure
placement for these students in top Chinese multinational companies having offices in India.
This is for the first time that so many tribal students would get education and jobs in MNCs through an international scholarship programme.
Congratulating the selected students, Prof Samanta said efforts are on to arrange scholarship and study of KISS students in reputed institutions of other countries as well.
